Agony Advice is a personal 'agony aunt' service offering fast, tailored advice to problems, questions and challenges of a personal nature. Our knowledgeable team of women and men has work and academic experience between them in fields such as teaching, business leadership, coaching, travel and politics.
So why are we here?
We're not looking to compete with licensed physicians, psychotherapists or clinical psychologists. We don't consider ourselves qualified to offer services to people with severe mental health issues or psychoses. If you are feeling severely depressed or suicidal, or feel that you may be or become a danger to yourself or other people, then we urge you to contact your General Practitioner or another healthcare professional as soon as possible.
We do cater for the vast majority of people visiting our site: people with problems in their personal lives. Think of us as the wise and kindly older friend, the learned and patriarchal schoolmaster, the canny and prudent aunt, the shrewd and savvy work colleague or the country pub landlord who serves commonsense along with his ales. We're all of these people, with one big bonus for you: you don't know us and we don't know you - so you can tell us anything; any secret, no matter how embarrassing you feel it is, or how much you need it kept private. There's no risk that your problem will become local knowledge, or that your friends or family will find out. What's more, as you are confiding in a total stranger, you are able to release your innermost fears and emotions without fear, which some of our clients have remarked upon as being therapeutic in itself!
We provide a unique 24 hour turnaround service, answering questions and offering impartial, balanced advice to problems covering all aspects of day to day life. Issues to do with relationships, be they friends, family, or lovers are most welcome, as are problems with weight, or other physical concerns, fears about diet and health, including sexual health, money and debt, and drug-taking or drinking.
Please be aware that as we are not regulated by any financial authority, we cannot offer specific financial advice or recommend financial products or investment vehicles (i.e. the benefit of one equity fund over another or which mortgage provider to use). Likewise, for specific legal issues, such as if you have been charged with a crime, we strongly suggest you employ the help of a legal professional. We are happy to point you in the right direction, however, should you need some help deciding if you need to take professional legal or financial advice from a qualified person or organisation.
